How to export a Live Photo from iPhone and convert it to a GIF
- Find your Live Photo — Open the Photos app on your iPhone. Live Photos are marked with a LIVE badge in the corner.
- Export both files — Tap the Share button, select Save to Files, or use AirDrop to your computer. Unlike regular photos, iPhone exports Live Photos as two separate files: a .HEIC image and a .MOV video (about 3 seconds at 15fps).
- Drop them here — Drag both files into the upload area above. The tool automatically pairs them by filename. You'll see a confirmation showing the paired Live Photo.
- Trim the clip (optional) — Live Photos are about 3 seconds long. Use the trim controls to select the best 1-2 second segment for your GIF. Adjust FPS (frames per second) to control smoothness vs file size.
- Download your GIF — Click Convert to GIF. The .MOV video is decoded frame by frame in your browser and encoded as an animated GIF. Download and share anywhere — no watermark, no upload.
If you only need to convert a single .MOV file (without the .HEIC pair), that works too. The tool will treat it as a regular video source and convert it to GIF directly.
