Key Features of Live Photo to GIF Converter

Auto pairing of .HEIC + .MOV

Drop both files at once — the tool recognizes paired Live Photos by filename. The .MOV video is used for the GIF while the .HEIC cover is kept as a reference.

Trim and adjust timing

Use the trim sliders to select the best segment of your Live Photo. Adjust FPS and output width to find the perfect balance of quality and file size.

No upload — fully private

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your Live Photo's HEIC and MOV files never leave your device — 100% private, no server involved.

Guides & Tips

How to export a Live Photo from iPhone and convert it to a GIF

  1. Find your Live Photo — Open the Photos app on your iPhone. Live Photos are marked with a LIVE badge in the corner.
  2. Export both files — Tap the Share button, select Save to Files, or use AirDrop to your computer. Unlike regular photos, iPhone exports Live Photos as two separate files: a .HEIC image and a .MOV video (about 3 seconds at 15fps).
  3. Drop them here — Drag both files into the upload area above. The tool automatically pairs them by filename. You'll see a confirmation showing the paired Live Photo.
  4. Trim the clip (optional) — Live Photos are about 3 seconds long. Use the trim controls to select the best 1-2 second segment for your GIF. Adjust FPS (frames per second) to control smoothness vs file size.
  5. Download your GIF — Click Convert to GIF. The .MOV video is decoded frame by frame in your browser and encoded as an animated GIF. Download and share anywhere — no watermark, no upload.

If you only need to convert a single .MOV file (without the .HEIC pair), that works too. The tool will treat it as a regular video source and convert it to GIF directly.

How to use

1

Export Live Photo from iPhone

On iPhone, open the Photos app, select a Live Photo, tap Share → Save to Files, or use AirDrop to your computer. This exports both .HEIC and .MOV files.

2

Drop files into the converter

Drag both the .HEIC and .MOV files into the upload area. They pair up automatically. A single .MOV file works too — it will be treated as a video source.

3

Trim and convert

Set the start/end time, adjust FPS and output width. Click Convert to GIF. Download your animated GIF ready to share anywhere.

Apple does not provide a built-in way to convert Live Photos to GIF on iPhone. Use this tool instead: Share the Live Photo to Files or AirDrop it to your computer (this exports .HEIC + .MOV), then upload both files here to convert to GIF.
