AVIF to PNG: Keep Transparency, Edit Freely
AVIF is an excellent format for web delivery — small file size, great quality, transparency support. But when you need to edit an image in Photoshop, Figma, or GIMP, PNG is often the better choice because of its universal editor support.
When to convert AVIF to PNG:
- Editing logos, icons, or design assets with transparent backgrounds
- Using images in software that doesn't support AVIF
- Preparing images for print (PNG is lossless)
- Creating images that need further processing
PNG preserves the transparency that AVIF supports, so your logos and stickers maintain their clean, transparent backgrounds after conversion. For web use, consider converting to WebP instead — it supports transparency with smaller file sizes than PNG.
