Why Print Labs Require 300 DPI — and How to Convert
Most professional print labs require images at 300 DPI. When you upload a 72 DPI photo, the lab's software reads the metadata and may print the image much larger than intended — or reject it outright. Use this tool to change DPI online and convert image to 300 DPI, telling the printer to output at the right size.
Important: changing DPI alone doesn't add detail. If your image is 800×600 pixels at 300 DPI, it will only print at about 2.7×2 inches. To convert DPI for printing at 8×10 inches at 300 DPI, you need 2400×3000 pixels. Use this image DPI converter online to set the tag, then the Image Resizer if you need more pixels. You can change DPI without Photoshop — this free tool does it in your browser.
