Does this tool create a finished Live Photo?

Not by itself. It exports a MOV clip and a JPG cover reference for the next step. A compatible iOS app is needed to finish saving the clip as a Live Photo in your Photos library.

Can I turn a video into a Live Photo without an app?

Video preparation on this page needs no installed app. The supported final saving workflow does require a compatible iOS app. We do not currently provide a verified app-free method for importing this tool's output into iPhone Photos as a Live Photo.

Can I convert MP4 or MOV to Live Photo?

Start with an MP4 or MOV file that your browser can decode and preview. The tool prepares a clip for a compatible iPhone app to finish as a Live Photo. A filename extension alone does not guarantee support, because video files can contain different codecs.

Why does the download contain a video instead of a Live Photo?

This tool handles the preparation stage. The MOV contains your selected motion segment, and the JPG is a cover reference. They are not automatically paired as a Live Photo. Import the MOV into a compatible iOS app and use its Live Photo saving option.

Can I select the MOV and JPG in Files and save them together?

We do not currently support that as a verified import method. Saving the files separately only confirms that they can be stored as individual media items. Follow the compatible-app workflow to create the final Live Photo.

Will my selected JPG become the Live Photo's key photo?

Not automatically. The JPG is a visual reference. The app used for the final save may generate its own still image or require you to choose the key photo again.

Do I need both the MOV and JPG in the iPhone app?

Follow the requirements of the app you choose. The workflow described here starts by importing the MOV. The JPG can help you identify the frame you want, but importing both files is not a guaranteed pairing method.

How long should my video clip be?

Start with a short segment containing the motion you actually want. Check the duration restrictions in the app used for the final save. Exporting a longer clip does not guarantee longer wallpaper playback.

Will the result work as an animated iPhone Lock Screen wallpaper?

It is not guaranteed. First confirm that the final asset plays as a Live Photo in Photos, then test it in your iPhone's wallpaper settings. Live Photo playback and animated wallpaper compatibility are separate checks.

Does this work on iPhone Safari?

Compatibility depends on your iOS version, video codec and the browser APIs available on your device. Try previewing a short clip first. If processing is unsupported or fails, use another supported browser or device. The final Live Photo saving step still takes place in a compatible iOS app.

Is my video uploaded?

This tool processes your video locally in your browser rather than uploading it to our server. If you later transfer the files through cloud storage or open them in another app, that service's privacy practices apply.

Are there file size limits?

Processing is constrained by your device's memory, browser capabilities, video dimensions and clip length. Large or high-resolution files may fail even if they can be selected. Start with a short clip if you encounter a problem.

Do I need to convert my video to GIF first?

No. Start with the video directly. Converting it to GIF first adds an unnecessary intermediate step. If your source is already a GIF, use the separate GIF to Live Photo tool.

Why use this page instead of going straight to an iPhone app?

Use this page if you want to select a segment, adjust framing and preview the prepared clip in your browser without uploading it. If your video is already ready to import, going directly to a compatible Live Photo app may be simpler.
