How to Convert PNG, WebP, HEIC, and BMP to JPG Online — Free, No Upload Required

JPG (JPEG) is the most universally compatible image format in existence.

Every device, operating system, browser, and application from the last 30 years can open a JPG file without plugins or special software. When a PNG won't attach to an email, a WebP won't open in Microsoft Word, an HEIC photo won't display on a Windows PC, or a BMP file is too large to upload — the solution is always the same: convert to JPG.

All processing is local: Unlike CloudConvert, Convertio, and other online converters that upload your images to a remote server, this tool converts files entirely within your browser. Your photos never leave your device. This matters especially for sensitive images — personal photos, ID documents, and work files that you would not want stored on a third-party server.

StepAction
1. Upload Your ImagesDrag and drop files onto the upload area, or click to browse. Supported input formats: PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), BMP, GIF, AVIF, and TIFF. You can upload a mix of different formats in the same batch — all will be converted to JPG simultaneously. No account required, no file count limit.
2. Configure Output Settings (Optional)The default output is high-quality JPG at quality level 90 — this is the optimal balance between file size and visual quality for most use cases. If you need a smaller output file (for example, under 200KB for a government portal), lower the quality setting to 75–80. For maximum quality (printing, professional use), keep quality at 90–95. Transparent areas in PNG and WebP files are automatically filled with a white background.
3. Download Your JPG FilesClick Convert. All files are processed simultaneously and download as a ZIP archive (or individually for single files). The converted JPGs use the same filenames as your originals with the .jpg extension. Files are ready to attach, upload, print, or share immediately.

Batch Convert 200+ HEIC, PNG, and WebP Files to JPG — Mixed Formats, No Limit, Free

iPhone camera rolls often contain a mix: HEIC photos, Live Photo videos, screenshots saved as PNG, and images downloaded from the web as WebP. Most tools force you to convert each format separately — HEIC converter here, PNG to JPG there, WebP batch somewhere else. This tool accepts all these formats in a single upload and converts everything to JPG in one operation.

Why large batches fail on other tools: heictojpg.com and similar dedicated HEIC tools cap free batch conversions at a low file count, requiring a paid upgrade for 500+ files. CloudConvert and Convertio charge per conversion minute, making large batches expensive. This tool has no file count limit and no per-file cost because all processing happens locally in your browser — there is no server cost to pass on to users.

Convert to JPG AND Reduce to 100KB, 200KB, or 1MB: The Two-Step Workflow for Portal Uploads

Many government portals, visa applications, and job websites require JPG format AND a specific maximum file size.

The US DS-160 visa form requires JPEG photos between 54KB and 240KB. The India OCI portal requires JPG under 1MB. HR recruitment portals typically require JPG photos under 200KB. A PNG or HEIC photo from your phone might be 3–8MB — it needs both format conversion and file size reduction before it can be uploaded.

The two-step workflow:

StepAction
1. Convert to JPG HereUpload your PNG, HEIC, WebP, or BMP file and convert to JPG. After download, check the file size of the converted JPG. If it is already within the portal's file size limit — great, you are done. If it is still too large (common for HEIC files from DSLR cameras, which can produce 10–15MB JPGs), proceed to step 2.
2. Compress to Your Target SizeUse the dedicated compression tools to reduce the JPG to your exact target: Compress to 100KB for DS-160 and passport portals, Compress to 200KB for India OCI and HR portals, Compress to 1MB for WhatsApp-ready sharing and email attachments. Each tool finds the maximum JPG quality that fits within the target — you get the best possible quality at the required size.

Why not just compress without converting first? If your source file is PNG with transparency, compressing it directly to 100KB as a PNG produces poor results — PNG is not efficient for this size target. Converting to JPG first, then compressing, gives dramatically better quality at the same target size because JPG's compression algorithm is far more efficient than PNG's for photographic content.

Quick reference — most common portal requirements:

  • US DS-160 visa photo: JPG format, 54KB–240KB → Convert to JPG, then Compress to 100KB
  • India OCI / visa photo: JPG format, under 1MB → Convert to JPG (usually sufficient; compress to 1MB if needed)
  • UK UKVI (e-visa): JPEG, under 10MB → Convert to JPG only
  • HR recruitment portals: JPG, under 200KB → Convert to JPG, then Compress to 200KB
  • WhatsApp (pre-compress): JPG, under 1MB → Convert to JPG, then Compress to 1MB

Frequently Asked Questions About Image to JPG Converter

HEIC and JPG produce visually similar quality at typical viewing sizes, but HEIC achieves this at roughly half the file size — a 3MB JPG and a 1.5MB HEIC of the same photo look nearly identical on screen. Apple switched to HEIC by default in iOS 11 (2017) specifically because of this storage efficiency: your iPhone photo library uses about half the space it would in JPG format. HEIC also supports 10-bit colour depth (vs JPG's 8-bit), which results in better gradient quality and reduced banding in low-contrast areas like skies. The practical downside is compatibility: HEIC is not supported by older Windows software, many web browsers, and most online platforms. Converting HEIC to JPG gives up the storage efficiency advantage in exchange for universal compatibility.
