Principais recursos do GIF Trimmer

Visual frame timeline

See every frame of your GIF on a timeline and drag handles to select the exact start and end point — no guesswork, no trial and error.

Real-time preview

Instantly preview exactly how the trimmed GIF will look before you export. Adjust the selection and see the result immediately without waiting.

Smaller file after trimming

Fewer frames means less data to store, so the trimmed GIF is usually smaller. Size, frame order and every frame's delay are preserved — the output is re-encoded to 256 colours, so the size shown is an estimate rather than a guarantee.

Trim by time or frame number

Type an exact start and end time in seconds, or type frame numbers — the two stay in sync and snap to a real frame boundary, because GIF frames do not all share the same delay.

Remove the middle of a GIF

Switch to remove mode to cut a segment out of the middle and splice what is left into one continuous loop — handy for dropping a mistimed take from a screen recording.

Local processing, no upload

Your GIF never leaves your device. All processing happens in your browser — no server uploads, no privacy concerns.

How to Cut and Shorten GIFs

GIFs are great, but sometimes they're just too long. Whether you want to remove the first few frames of a reaction GIF, cut out the middle of a tutorial animation, or keep only the punchline of a meme, trimming is the answer.

Why trim a GIF?

Trimming isn't just about making content shorter — it's about making it better. A well-trimmed GIF loops more smoothly, conveys its message faster, and keeps your audience engaged. Plus, fewer frames mean a smaller file that loads faster on social media and websites.

Trim first, compress second

For the smallest possible file, trim your GIF first to remove unwanted frames, then use our GIF Compressor to optimize the remaining frames. This two-step workflow gives you the best balance of length and quality.

Batch trimming

Need to trim multiple GIFs? You can upload several at once and process them one by one. Each trimmed GIF is saved independently and available for immediate download.

How to Remove the Middle of a GIF

Trimming the ends is the common case, but plenty of GIFs have something wrong in the middle: a mistimed take in a screen recording, a dropped reaction, a stretch of nothing between two good moments. Switching to remove mode lets you select exactly that stretch and export everything else as one continuous loop — the part before it and the part after it are spliced together.

Removing the middle vs splitting the GIF

Remove mode keeps one file: the unwanted segment is gone and the rest joins up. Splitting is a different job — it produces several shorter GIFs from one source. If you want the frames as separate images instead, the GIF Frame Extractor exports every frame as its own picture.

What happens to the loop

Because each frame keeps its original delay, the spliced result plays at the same speed as the source. The join is a hard cut, so pick boundaries where the motion is calm if you want the seam to be invisible.

Trim by Time or by Frame Number

Some edits are easier to describe by the clock: keep 1.2s to 3.5s, drop the last half second, cut the first second of dead air. Type a start and end time and the selection jumps to those frames — or type frame numbers if you already know them.

Why times snap to frame boundaries

GIF frames do not all share the same delay, so there is no fixed frame rate to convert against. Any time you type is snapped to the nearest real frame boundary, and every frame keeps its original delay — a gif duration cutter that assumed a constant frame rate would drift away from the animation you actually see.

Frames are the precise counterpart

When someone tells you to cut gif frames 20 to 35, type 20 and 35 and the same range is selected. Switching between seconds and frames does not change the output — it only changes how you describe it. Used this way the tool works as a gif length editor as much as a gif shortener, and you choose whether to think in time or in frames.

When trimming is not the right tool

Trimming changes length, not shape or speed. To change the visible area, use the GIF Cropper; to make the animation play faster or slower, use the GIF Speed Changer. All of them run locally in your browser.

Como usar

1

Upload your GIF

Drag and drop an animated GIF onto the upload area, or click to select one from your device. You can add several files at once for batch trimming.

2

Choose keep or remove

Keep mode exports only the segment you select. Remove mode deletes the selected segment and splices what is left into one loop. Drag the handles on the frame timeline, or type an exact start and end time.

3

Check the output and download

The panel shows how many frames and how much duration the result will have, plus an estimated file size. Click Trim GIF to export, then download or keep editing.

Perguntas frequentes sobre GIF Trimmer

Upload your GIF, then drag the start and end handles on the frame timeline — or type an exact start and end time — to select which frames to keep. You can cut gif frames from the beginning, the middle or the end. The preview updates in real time, so you can see the exact length before you export.
